Hey everyone... we are now in Dunhuang after a few exciting days in Beijing. So, if you ever need to find a McDonald's in Beijing, all you need to do is draw the golden arches for the taxi driver. Pretty damn cool.
Dunhuang is a desert area about two hours west of Beijing by plane. The remains of the first ever Great Wall (built during the Han Dynasty) is here. It's kind of pathetic compared to the famous Great Wall (built during the Ming), but I guess it was interesting.
Today was pretty cool. We got to ride camels and climb sand dunes. Yeah! Camels!!! You can buy pictures of yourself riding camels for about 2 dollars at the end. Pretty sweet. And of course I bought one. Haha. Yeah camel! That was probably the best part of Dunhuang. We also went to the Mogao Grottoes (if any of you know your Chinese history/archaeology). Lots of Buddhas painted everywhere and carved out of stone... weird. It's definitely a cool place to visit if you are into East Asian artstyles.
Tomorrow we are heading to Xi'an - the former capital of China during the earlier dynasties. Should be cool.
Me and Ke (one of the girls here with me) are going to hit up the night market here tonight. There's some really fun jewelry. And of course, I'm wearing the black pearl earrings I got in Beijing. Woot. And one of the necklaces. Hehe.
At dinner, the girls and guys split up and sat at two different tables. Basically, all the girls on the trip got fed up with the guys (who are seriously being pricks). Whatever.
It's funny reading about how everyone's going to class and shit. I still have a week and a half of wandering around China before we start classes back in Shanghai. I'm actually pretty excited about the Chinese culture and language classes. They are going to be pretty fun! :)
Hope everyone's doing okay with school and such! More updates to come... definitely while we are in Xi'an (tomorrow and day after). I don't know how lucky I will be in finding an Internet cafe in Lhasa. Hahahahaha.
OH! I saw the 3rd biggest Buddha today. Pretty exciting, huh? ;)
I MISS YOU ALL!!! G-LAND, FURMAN AND C-TOWN FOLKS!!!

I am so freaking jealous.
And lolz to the C-Town thing, only 'cause there's a supermarket on George Street around here called C-Town.
